The earth from all European countries was mixed by the artist Mia Florentine Weiss to create a "mixed concrete from European earth". This earth-concrete mix was made from the binders described below. The “European earth mix”, with the addition of water, was put into molds and compacted by hand to form concrete. The EUROPE contours were imprinted with a stamp and the earth concrete stones then naturally hardened. The uniform color results from the mixing together of the soils to form a "European soil mixture".

Cement and lime were used as binders for the production of the Europa and X WEG stones. The raw materials of cement are limestone (calcium carbonate as a source of calcium oxide), clay (for silicon dioxide and aluminum oxide), sand (for silicon dioxide) and iron ore (ferric oxide).
